Grade 8 Topic 1 Online Assessment Paper Copy

• Students will use the paper copies attached to complete the work before they log on and complete the assessment online.
• The paper form of the common online assessment will allow teachers to “see” the student work and still enable the answers to post to the platform.
• The paper copies will also enable PLC’s to analyze for common errors or misconceptions or gather examples of exemplary work.

Yes, calculators used for all assessments.

See the attached snips and take a peek online before your students complete the assessments to see how these match.

"Snips" for Topic 1 Assessment. Snips are the online questions in a format that can be printed.

These print-outs are valuable!

Students should take all enVision assessments using pencil/paper prior to completing online.

The attached Snips are in a Word document. If teachers customize the Topic 1 Assessment, these Snips can be customized, as well.

Note: Topic 1 is NOT a common assessment for the district data collection for Grade 8.

Kenzie Claus, chose to customize the Grade 8 Topic 1 Assessment. She is using a format including 11 questions that she customized online. Her students will take "Part One" of the assessment online.

THEN

Kenzie created a pencil - paper "Part 2" for the Topic 1 exam.

Attached you will find the work that she has offered to share including Review for online Part One, Review for pencil/paper Part Two, online SNIPS for Part One, and Paper Copy of Part Two.

These are the problems from Pearson from the Topic 1 Exam that Kenzie chose when she customized her assessment:

2, 3, 5, 6, 7 -13

Totaling 11

The second part includes:

(2) order of operations
(3) comparing #s
(2) classifying
(2) exponent properties
(2) evaluating

So that there are a total of over 20 items on the assessment.

If you have any questions, please email Kenzie. She is happy to share her work! kenzie.claus@fayette.kyschools.us

Here is a digital scavenger hunt I created for digital learning. In this slide deck, students answer the first question. and click on the answer. If they are correct they advance to the next question. If they are wrong they go back and try the question again. This version does not include exponent rules or scientific notation. Best if uploaded to your canvas as a google app

Each of these Formative Assessment Lessons related to real-life and promote student thinking and discussion.

Use 2/3 of the way through the unit OR for a review to identify misconceptions and errors.
