I am pasting this from an email I sent out the other day when I did a class with Henry Clay online with the use of our projector! Its quite long, so feel free to skim!

PS...any ideas you have for "good" problems for our classes to work on would be awesome!

Today is the first meeting of two schools in Fayette County through internet conferencing!

Kate Johnson and I are exploring a new part of our technology today. Through the help of the MILC grant for FCPS and Catsbusters with University of Kentucky we are attempting to implement our first online meeting of two or our advanced classes today.

We have set up a meeting today at 2:45pm online through the Centra webpage. (https://eclass.msc.uky.edu) We will be using a video camera, Pegasus notetaker, and speakerphone provided by UK and the document camera and projector provided by the MILC grant to connect online and let our two classes speak to each other and see each other.

Today’s goal is merely to actually GET ONLINE and use the technology. We are expecting to experience a few technical problems as one always does when using new technology for the first time! Eventually after we get all of the bugs worked out, we will begin to use this technology so that our classes can work on a college level math problem together. My class is an Advanced Geometry class while Kate’s class is an Advanced Algebra II class. With the help of Dr. Eakin and the UK math department we will devise an advanced problem that our classes can work on collaboratively.

This is a very new experiment and idea but we would like to share the experience with you and invite you to join us today around 3:00 to see our technology in use!

Thank you for your time and consideration!
