The Mathematics Instructional Learning Community (MILC) Project is an alliance among Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS) math teachers focusing on:
  • Increasing the pedagogy and content knowledge of math teachers;
  • Integrating technology tools into everyday math instruction; and
  • Developing, implementing and revising units of study.

My thanks to the teachers who developed the chapter 8 final unit. The work-along notes are very well done, and I think this is really helping my students learn this material. Praise for this unit is well-deserved.

There is a mistake in the last section. It says Q(x) and it should say Q(y), but other than that it is pretty good. I find that with the pace we have to go at in Algebra I, the guided notes help the students not get bogged with the little things. But I always have mistakes in the notes.

I think the kids like the notes. They get a little upset if I skip over something! They even ask to use them on flashbacks and class assignments. So they know that they are important to keep and use!
