The Mathematics Instructional Learning Community (MILC) Project is an alliance among Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS) math teachers focusing on:
  • Increasing the pedagogy and content knowledge of math teachers;
  • Integrating technology tools into everyday math instruction; and
  • Developing, implementing and revising units of study.

A reminder from Kentucky Council of Teachers of Mathematics about an upcoming event:
2008 KCTM Annual Conference Registration
Date: 11 October 2008, Saturday
Time: 08:30 AM
End time: 03:30 PM
Location: Ballard High School

2008 KCTM Annual Conference Registration
Early-Bird Registration is available online at a reduced price through September 12, 2008. (If paying by mail, payment must be postmarked by September 12, 2008 in order to receive early-bird rate.)
Pre-registration deadline for all attendees is September 19, 2008.
Everyone who pre-registers will receive a complimentary boxed lunch at the conference.
After September 19, 2008, all registrations will be on-site. On-site registration will be $90. This includes pre-service students. On-site lunch is only guaranteed to conference attendees who pre-register.
Speakers: The Speaker Proposal form also serves as the conference registration form for lead speakers. Only one speaker per proposal may be considered the Lead Speaker and is eligible for the reduced registration rate of $15. All Co-Speakers must also complete and return the conference registration form at the normal conference rate.
The MESA Banquet will be Friday, October 10, 2008 at the Conference hotel, the Louisville Marriott East. You may purchase MESA banquet tickets when you register for the conference. To nominate someone for a MESA Award, please visit the MESA Banquet page.
You will have the option to pay online with a credit card. If you will not be paying online, you will receive an email with payment instructions. Your registration will not be processed until payment is received.

The KCTM program is now posted on the web. Go to www.kctm.org to see the speakers and sessions. Patsy Kanter is known world-wide. Dr. Bill Bush at UL has a session. Linda Jewell has a session. Bryson Perry has 2 sessions. Many more! Check it out!!

This conference allows for math teachers to share ideas about how best to teach our content, providing some of the best professional development in the state each year. With textbook adoption approaching, a large number of exhibitors will be in attendance; thus this is also an opportunity to preview new materials. I strongly encourage everyone who is able to attend; it's a wonderful experience.
