I was just browsing through our handbook for the year when I came across the scoring for secondary schools. It caught my eye because of our discussion we had on Day 2 of MILC this summer. This is what our book says:
When determining final grades the following will be utilized:
1. Assigned class work (documentation required) which constitutes 40% of a student’s grade and may include the following:
a. Participation
b. Homework
c. Seat work
d. Note taking
e. Discussion
f. Quizzes

2. Test scores and/or completion of assigned tasks count 50% (includes final)

3. Special projects 10% (if applicable, otherwise included in #1)

I think there was concern about Math teachers having 50% of the grade being tests. If this is our handbook, shouldn't all the classes/subjects be following this? What does the handbook of other schools say?

I knew this was a policy somewhere. I guess it may just be an HC thing though it used to be county wide. I have always gone 50% on tests and lumped everything else into the other 50%.
