Location: Lafayette | I was very pleased to hear that we are not teaching direct and inverse variation in Alg. I - not because it isn't a good topic to teach, but I really feel like I'm rushing through some of the material right now. For students with a Pre-Algebra and Alg. I background we can go as fast as the syllabus tells us to, but we have some students who haven't seen y=mx+b before (especially since we cut down on the number of Part 1 classses). This should give us some time to spend on this very important concept, so I applaud this decision. |

Location: Lafayette | It was decided on Monday when a group of us got together to write the Algebra I final. You need to ask whoever represented your school at this. Natalee, this is correct, isn't it? |

Location: IAKSS | It became very evident during our work this week, that high schools with block schedules cannot keep up the pace with the non-block schools (HC, vocational, middle).
When looking at sections for teachers to omit, if they are behind, the sections in Chapter 4 dealing with direct and inverse variation, were identified as teaching opportunities to omit from Algebra I at this time.
We will gather feedback from teachers and schools as we continue in our path to get a "final" curriculum framework....but that was the general feeling at this time.

Location: PL Dunbar | I was unaware of this as well. On my day by day it says we are still on for direct and indirect variation...in fact I taught it today to my kids. We did omit the section on graphing quadratics thought....8.8 I think.
Does anyone have an updated day by day that they can post? |
