The Mathematics Instructional Learning Community (MILC) Project is an alliance among Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS) math teachers focusing on:
  • Increasing the pedagogy and content knowledge of math teachers;
  • Integrating technology tools into everyday math instruction; and
  • Developing, implementing and revising units of study.

Have any of you done the activities with Chapter 1 that required making cards (like the Memory Game). Just wondered if it was worth it.

I didn't to a MILC game, but I did do an activity. I took 13 translating problems and put the words on one card and the answer on another. Then the students had to find their match, so it was more of a physical matching game. It was the second day of class, so I added the step of finding out who their partner is and something about them. Then each pair shared their question and answer and something about their partner with the class. The whole think took a the most 10 minutes. I think it worked really well and I think I will keep it for furture years.
