Instead of exponential functions (part 1 doesn't do this)...I agree that a probability unit would work for everyone. I would love to see us develop a unit that would knock your socks off. I think this is the way to go. Agree or disagree???

I agree. Perhaps Bryson and I could work some FLASH stuff into this unit. What about working in some things odds in gambling like I was talking about on our PD day. I talked to some fellows from Dunbar tonight about their "CASINO Day" that they do with their Prob/Stat classes. (All students take a Prob/Stat class at Dunbar. Something like that could be interesting.

I think the gambling idea would be fun, the kids would enjoy it. What can Flash do for us? I don't know much about it.

FLASH could be used to simulate the games.

My only fear is that we would have to be very careful not to appear as though we are actually promoting gambling. It would have to be educational and offered as sort of a warning to students. Kind of like, "It's only a game, play responsibly" as they say on the lotto commercial.

Probability sounds good--do we do probability is Geometry?
What about juniors who were in Part II and haven't seen it since then?

We can always do a probability review in geometry. The Juniors do need to see it again. We can schedule it in! What a great idea.

We can also create probability dart boards where students would have to find the areas of different geometric figures in order to find the probabilities. (at least it might tie in somewhere?) If not - Bryson is right it is a good review.

ch. 7 is our area and we are going to do that at the beginning of next semester. When we are done with that section we can tie it in. Good idea!

That's great. Hopefully you and Steve can create something with flash. Any ideas?
