I video taped a lesson yesterday for next week. I used a normal microphone with the document camera which was hooked up to my VCR with the RCA plugs. (Like the announcements you must turn the tv Way Up to hear the tape.) We will see how the students like it. Just another way to use the technology:>

Did the same for next week but saved it as computer file for replay with projector. Will post directions for hookup if anyone interested.

I am interested in the computer part. Do you have to have any special hardware or software to convert to computer video format?

I spoke with Bryson's sub and asked how the kids responded to the taped lesson. The sub said it went very well. We applaud Bryson's use of technology as well as his creativity and fetish with perfection!!

You would need a video capture card for your PC which usually includes the necessary software to capture convert and save the file. These start at around $60.

Exactly what kind of microphone did you use for your lesson? I have what I thought was a normal mic (it came with a computer program I have at home), but it is the wrong connection for my document camera.

You should be able to pick up a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter at Radio Shack (or similar place) pretty cheep.

My students enjoyed to video taped lesson.

For the microphone I got a 10 dollar one at best buy.

My computer mic even with an adapter would not work.

There was a lot of noise in the background since my mic was such a cheap one.

I successfully taped my lesson. Our library had exactly the mic I needed. I am just replaying using the projector and the sound is fine. This is so cool.
