What role does your school ask you to take in the development/scoring of writing portfolios?
Nothing?, Contribute 1 piece?, Score? At BSHS we have to contribute 1 piece each semester and each teacher (including math) has to meet every month with seniors who have been assigned to us so we can help them edit/revise their entires; We also have to score. Just curious.

What kind of writing do you guys do in math class?

At HCHS, the Math department is not required to contribute to the Writing Portfolio. The writing we do in math is just so different that is doesn't tend to score well in the WP. Of course we have students write solutions to Open Response questions as part of our regular assessment. Beyond that, I do not believe that we are doing much "writing" in our math classes. Don't want to speak for everyone but that is my impression.

At Lafayette we do not have to contribute and do not score writing portfolios since we are doing competency assurance tasks with our students. With the monthly learning checks available we are able to have our students do those as well.

At Southside we don't really have any porfolio writing. I am trying to develop some activities to give the students practice. The home schools have never asked for me to participate.
