Math Posts: 281 Location: Henry Clay | Does anyone know how to make a video using Smart-View like the video below? Can I get around the 500kb max attachments size? I would like to show an example video of 2mb? http://www.staff.fcps.net/bperry/solvingsystemsvideotutorial.swf Click the link above to see the video? Edited by bperry 11/3/2005 9:47 PM

Technology Posts: 12 | That's a flash file. It was probably produced on a computer using Macromedia Captivate, though there is a free-for-download program called Wink which will produce simple computer screen videos like that. They're reasonably easy to do...as long as you're talking about things you can view on your computer screen. Are you interested in this? Jeffrey L. Jones, District TRT

Technology Posts: 12 | Captivate, I'm afraid, is not a part of the Studio suite. Maybe somebody ought to explore whether there's any money left over for this sort of thing? I'll shoot a note to Natalee.

Math Location: IAKSS | How about discussing this on Monday at the FLASH group meeting?? Is this something that Dr. Swan would be able to teach along with FLASH or is this something totally different and would be recommended as a separate PD? I am game with either. Also wondered how many FLASH members would want to learn "Captivate"? We could then advertise to all MILC participants and see interest there as well. I am guessing that Captivate products would appear in the instructional units that we write. That would be the connection to the grant budget. Let me know how it goes!! Thanks!!!

Technology Posts: 12 | OK, folks, I had a chat with Natalee (apparently a few minutes after she posted the above message...or maybe a few minutes before!). 1) Since the video example above is mostly a tech tutorial resource for skill training (which is what Captivate is used for), the first question which has to be answered is, how will that sort of thing embed in the units you're developing...that is, pedagogically? (I'm not sayin', I's just askin'! ) 2) If you and Natalee are content with the answer to #1, then the next question is...who wants in? If it's just the Dr. Swan group, then you should ask Gerry if he's willing to support it. If others are interested (on a tech level, Captivate is a LOT easier than Flash), then we'll work up something outside of that group. 3) Natalee says there's enough $$ to buy a few copies of this, for those who might be interested...but such purchases have to be tied to pedagogy and training (hence #'s 1 and 2 above). Opinions? Ideas? Cat-calls? Jeff

Math Posts: 281 Location: Henry Clay | Of course I am interested! These movies would be good in a unit that the students would need to use the calculator or some other device that deals with a lot of button pushing. Does anyone know if you can record this type of thing with Smartview without Flash? I know you can create scripts in Smartview.
